TANDBERG Receives Highest USDLA Award for Leadership in Distance Learning

TANDBERG receives 21st Century Best Practices Award; Congratulates White Plains City School District, Eastview Middle School

Oslo, Norway, and New York, USA, October 24, 2006 – TANDBERG® (OSLO: TAA.OL), a global leader in visual communication, today announced receipt of the 21st Century Best Practices Award from the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) for leadership in the field of distance learning.

These prestigious Global Awards are presented annually to organizations and individuals engaged in the development and delivery of distance learning programs. Included in the recognition ceremony will be the 21st Century Best Practice Award, as well as the Best Practice Awards for Distance Learning Programming and the Excellence in Distance Learning Teaching Awards.

The USDLA Awards are closely followed by the Distance learning industry. "As we approach our 20th Anniversary as a premier organization for the entire distance learning profession, we enjoy honoring some of the leaders in the industry," said Dr. John G. The USDLA Awards were created to acknowledge major accomplishments in distance learning and to highlight those distance learning instructors, programs and professionals who have achieved and demonstrated extraordinary results through the use of online, videoconferencing, satellite and blended learning delivery technologies.

The 21st Century Best Practices Award recognizes pioneering organizations in the field that have changed distance learning, as well as organizations that have challenged existing practice by developing new and innovative solutions for distance learning.

In addition, TANDBERG today congratulates Jody Kennedy and Eastview Middle School on receipt of the USDLA Best Practices in Distance Learning Programming for the “Global Run Project 2005-2006." The award recognizes programs that have designed and delivered outstanding and comprehensive best practices.

In conjunction with TANDBERG, Jody Kennedy, an art teacher and videoconferencing coordinator at Eastview Middle School in White Plains, New York, piloted the Global Run Project, a multidisciplinary service-learning project designed to increase global cultural awareness which simultaneously addressing measured standards in math, science, health, and physical education.

Students in the project have used videoconferencing to connect with students from Australia to Kenya to Mozambique to Ireland. Through the project, students have walked 5,000 miles and raised $10,000 for the past two years for schools in Kenya.
